What time does trick-or-treating start on Halloween? How early should kids start asking for candy, and when does it end?
Most communities do not have official start and end times for trick-or-treating on Halloween, but as a general rule the most popular hours are from 5-8 p.m. Parents with younger kids tend to start around 5 p.m. when there’s still daylight, while most trick-or-treaters begin around sunset between 5:30 and 6 p.m. (In Syracuse, sunset is expected to be 5:57 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2024.)
