    Type L Merit Badges are the latest generation of merit badges and is identified by the "SINCE 1910" inclusion within the plastic backing.
    Type L Merit Badges were introduced in 2015 and have been found to have two different manufacturing variations.  Only a handful have been identified to exist in both variations, and while one variation is far more prevalent than the other, the two types can be identified easily side by side.  The lesser common version has a darker olive border than the other, however a few merit badges have only been found in this variation alone, the majority only coming in the more common variation.
